The Story:
We purchased this car in July 2011 with 51,231 original miles. We are the 4th owners. It was ordered and picked up at the factory by the first owner, who kept the car for 31 years. The car is fully documented from the time it was delivered in Stuttgart in September 1972 to the present day.
The car was ordered with factory installed a/c, tinted windows, retractable antenna, full leather interior, sunroof, s-appearance options & trim, sway bars and special order metallic blue paint. When the first owner returned from Europe in 1972, he ordered 7X15 "RS" Fuchs wheels and Recaro sport seats with houndstooth inserts, which were both dealer installed. The car was delivered without a radio but the owner had a Becker Mexico installed at the factory the week he took delivery of the car.
Rare period rally lights were professionally installed by a Porsche factory technicians during his visit to the U.S. This numbers matching car is completely original, unrestored and fully documented since it was delivered at the factory in September 1972, except for a high quality Glausrit repaint by the first owner to its' original 8484 color in 2002. It wears period correct Michelin XWX 185X15 tires (although the car was originally delivered with Dunlop tires).
Cars sounds & drives as nice as it looks! The 3rd owner was awarded a class win and 2nd in Division at the 2008 Charlotte Porsche Parade Concours. The car was also featured in the Hemmings March 2007 issue pictured below.
