|Comments||I have had my car since March 1995. I bought it at 137,000 Miles. It has now done 232,000 Miles (May 2016). It was delivered on 10 September 1973 to its original owner by Hamilton's in Melbourne Australia with 30 miles on the odometer. I have all the original books etc. |
Although an "E" it was delivered with "S" trim,"S" front spoiler, L &R sports seats, 85 litre plastic fuel tank, and one inch extended Hub on steering wheel (Option 416) . It still has the original (dated ) 1973 spacer saver tire on the spare wheel but it now has 11/1972 dated flat 6 Fuchs's.
Since owning it I have done a full bare metal respray in the original light ivory (131)body, the suspension has been redone (incl Turbo tie rods)and brakes, the engine and gearbox rebuilt at 145,000 miles. The engine was rebuilt (on the original case) with genuine 2.7 RS barrels and pistons, RS MFI pump and distributor, (but E cams) turbo oil pump and carrera tensionsers. In 2006 it had the distributor converted to "points-less" operation and fully rebuilt, and all the suspension bushes and engine mounts replaced.
In 2010 it had throttle bodies redone out to S specs and new heat exchangers and muffler - all of which were ceramic coated before installed.
It looks stock unless you count the cooling fins on the cylinders but has most of the power of an RS with a better bottom end.
June 2011: FINALLY redone the interior. I have been saving up black brown and white pepita seat inserts, correct brown carpet, new tinted windows some new front door pockets and all new foam for the recaro sports seats. It is no longer a daily driver so the interior was a project for 2011 along with refitting a becker mexico radio and swapping all the glass to tinted glass. I replaced the tan leatherette with a similar coloured leather for seats and all interior panels and had the period radio fitted with speakers in dash and an integrated but hidden Ipod. Pictures of finished car now attached.
Jan 2012 update: have changed the look for 2012. Applied "Bob Tilton" PORSCHE side scrip and fitted Hella 118 yellow fog TTG lights. New photo added
The numbers on it are:
Chassis no: 911320 1306 out of 1366 E coupes built in 1973
Production number 103 8915 out of 9447 coupes built in 1973
Gearbox number: 713 1350
Engine no: 623 2045
In a recent conversation with someone at Porsche who was looking at their database for some information for me they commented that there was a date on the data sheet next to gearbox information - 3 July 1973. It is not 100% clear what this date means as I was previously told it was a "June 73" car. However it now looks like it was not completed until July 3.
